One Life projects – promoting vascular health

At the beginning of 2012 the Finnish Brain Association, the Finnish Diabetes Association and the Finnish Heart Association with their respective health promotion projects have joined forces in One Life.

One Life continues the work of the DEHKO diabetes programme, which ended in February 2011 -  the diabetes projects in One Life will continue the tasks in the prevention and care of diabetes and also break new ground.

The aim of the One Life projects, funded by RAY, the Finnish Slot Machine Association, is to get people to promote their own health and to feel that they can access good care if they need it.

There are several subprojects set to run in the period 2012-2017.  The intention is to raise the awareness of individuals, organizations, health care structures and the whole of society so as to improve the public health.

The main objectives are

  • lifelong support for vascular health
  • prevention of vascular diseases and of early diagnoses
  • including rehabilitation and peer support as an integral part of the good care of diseases

Working together the public health organizations can increase synergy and avoid overlap.

The Brain Association, the Diabetes Association and the Heart Association have  accomplished close collaboration before, including the project “Vascular Health for All” and since 2000 the Diabetes Association and the Heart Association have worked together on “Heart Symbol” activity.
